Arabic Biryani Recipe:
Arabic biryani is a popular rice dish that is believed to have originated in the Arabian Peninsula. It is typically made with long-grain basmati rice, meat (usually chicken or lamb), and a blend of aromatic spices, such as cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, and cumin.
To make Arabic biryani, follow these steps:👇
Ingredients:
2 cups of long-grain basmati rice
500g of boneless chicken or lamb
2 medium-sized onions, finely sliced
2 tomatoes, chopped
1 tablespoon of ginger-garlic paste
1 teaspoon of cumin powder
1 teaspoon of coriander powder
1 teaspoon of garam masala powder
1 cinnamon stick
2 cardamom pods
2 cloves
Salt, to taste
4 tablespoons of vegetable oil
3 cups of water
Instructions:
1. Wash and soak the rice in water for 30 minutes. Drain and set aside.
2. In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the onions and sauté until golden brown.
3. Add the ginger-garlic paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, and cloves. Sauté for 2-3 minutes or until fragrant.
4. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft and mushy.
5. Add the boneless chicken or lamb and cook until the meat is browned on all sides.
6. Add salt to taste and stir well.
7. Add 3 cups of water and bring to a boil.
8. Add the soaked rice and stir well. Cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid and simmer on low heat for 20-25 minutes or until the rice is cooked and fluffy.
9. Remove from heat and let it sit for 5 minutes before serving.
Arabic biryani is best served with raita (a yogurt-based side dish) and salad. Enjoy!
