Delicious chocolate cake:
Ingredients:
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 2 cups granulated sugar
• 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
• 2 teaspoons baking soda
• 1 teaspoon baking powder
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1 cup buttermilk
• 1/2 cup vegetable oil
• 2 large eggs
• 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
• 1 cup hot water
For the frosting:
• 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
• 2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
• 3 cups powdered sugar
• 1/3 cup milk
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract.
4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
5. Stir in the hot water, being careful not to overmix.
6. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.
8. Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes before removing them from the pans and transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
For the frosting:
1. In a large bowl, beat the butter until creamy.
2. Add the cocoa powder and powdered sugar, and beat until combined.
3. Gradually add the milk and vanilla extract, beating until smooth.
4. Once the cakes have cooled completely, place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread a layer of frosting over the top.
5. Place the second cake layer on top of the frosting, and spread another layer of frosting over the top and sides of the cake.
